Delta, United Seeking Relief in California Airline Pay Lawsuits

The California Supreme Court heard arguments in cases involving United Airlines Inc. and Delta Air Lines Inc. pilots and flight attendants that will determine whether the state’s wage laws extend into the skies in time for the summer flying season, if there is one because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The cases involve unionized United pilots and flight attendants claiming their wage statements fail to accurately state the hours worked and at what wages, as well as nonunion Delta flight attendants arguing that California wage law covers nonresidents who fly into and out of the state’s airports.
