Delta Dodges Flight-Attendant Election,
As Machinists Union Scraps Election Bid

Delta Air Lines Inc., the least-unionized major air carrier in the U.S., April 6 dodged a union representation election among its 20,000 flight attendants, when the International Association of Machinists abandoned plans to seek a vote.

Employees had turned in too many questionable authorization cards in support of the union’s application for the vote, the IAM said in announcing on its website that it was ending its election bid.

The union said once the effort is formally dismissed by the National Mediation Board, it would file again in 12 months with the NMB to seek an election. Under NMB rules, ...
