Delays Likely as Interviews Required for Employment Visas

Applicants for employment-based green cards will likely continue to see delays as U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services formalizes its new policy to require them to appear for in-person interviews.

The agency first announced in late August that it would be phasing in the interviews, which in the past had been waived routinely. The interview requirement is now part of the agency’s official policy manual, the agency announced May 16.

“These increased interviews may further detect and prevent fraud, safeguard the United States from potential risk, and further ensure the integrity of the immigration process,” USCIS spokeswoman Arwen Fitzgerald told Bloomberg ...
