DC Contractor Retaliated Against Immigrant Workers for Unionizing (1)

A Washington, D.C.-area contractor unlawfully retaliated against a group of mainly immigrant employees who filed an overtime lawsuit and tried to form a union, the National Labor Relations Board ruled.

Tito Contractors Inc. threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement if the employees proceeded with an election to join District 51 of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, the board said in a March 29 decision.

“The decision reflects justice for working individuals who faced discrimination and retaliation when they stood up to assert their rights in the face of poor conditions and unlawful behavior by their employer,” ...
