D.C. Subway Worker Can’t Sue Employer Over Assault by Coworker

A Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority employee who was hospitalized after being beaten unconscious by a coworker can’t sue his employer because the assault stemmed from his job, the D.C. Circuit ruled Tuesday.

Virginia’s workers’ compensation system is the exclusive route for the worker, Teshome Workagegnehu, to receive payment for the injuries he sustained while working at WMATA’s Pentagon subway station in Arlington, Va., the appeals court said.
