Texas Factory Faces $412,750 OSHA Fine Following Amputations

The amputation of a worker’s fingers by a 500-ton machine press in a Texas metal-stamping factory has led OHSA to propose $412,750 in total fines against the El Paso-based employer.

One citation for a willful violation, released Monday by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, alleged D&D Manufacturing Inc. failed to ensure machine guards were used to prevent workers from reaching into two 500-ton hydraulic presses while the machines were operating.
