Construction Safety Manager Gets Trial on Race Bias Claims

A black manager at a utility infrastructure company raised sufficient factual issues to go to trial on claims that he experienced a hostile work environment and was passed up for promotion based on race, a federal court in Michigan ruled.

But Quanta Services Inc. and its InfraSource LLC unit are entitled to summary judgment on Michael U. James’s claim that racial bias affected the decision to fire him, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan said Monday.
