Rural Nevada Builders Challenge Las Vegas Pay Rate Requirement

The U.S. Labor Department’s authority to require builders in a rural Nevada region to pay workers on par with the union-dense Las Vegas construction market is being challenged in a new federal lawsuit.

Industry groups representing construction and trucking companies sued DOL late Monday in U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada.

Their lawsuit is an appeal from a July holding from the department’s Administrative Review Board, which had affirmed the agency’s wage determination because it lacked the availability of timely survey data reflecting the typical rates paid in the northern Nevada counties.
