Connecticut Gov. to Sign Bill Barring Salary History Questions

Connecticut employers would be prohibited from asking job candidates about their salary history under a bill the General Assembly passed in an attempt to close the gender and race wage gap.

The bill, HB5386, would prohibit employers or third parties like recruiting firms from asking about a worker’s salary history. Under the bill’s provisions, workers would be allowed to ask other workers about their salaries and don’t have to sign documents that would prevent them from asking salary questions. Employers can’t discipline employees for discussing their salaries.
