With a deadline looming to avert a possible strike by freight railroad workers, the National Retail Federation Nov. 29 asked House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to intervene if necessary to prevent a possible strike that could occur Dec. 6, while GOP leaders said they are “troubled” by the possibility of a work stoppage and will seek to avert one.
