Companies’ Worker Injury Records Could Be Released: Judge

Injury and illness reports from close to half a million companies could eventually be handed over to worker advocacy groups through Freedom of Information Act requests, after a federal judge signaled the information shouldn’t be withheld.

The release of injury and illness data submitted to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration probably wouldn’t violate privacy restrictions, Judge Timothy Kelly of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia wrote in a Dec. 12 opinion.
