Companies Not Reporting Worker Injuries Get Scant OSHA Backlash

Employers who didn’t file annual injury and illness summaries with federal worker safety regulators face little chance of being cited for a violation, a Bloomberg Environment review of enforcement data shows.

Although the Occupational Safety and Health Administration estimates about 200,000 worksites out of 350,000 eligible didn’t file summaries for 2016, the agency has cited only 34 employers as of May 9. This was the first time the agency mandated such a large number of employers provide the information.
