Companies’ New Safety Measures Could Stick Long After Pandemic

Companies that instituted safety changes to adapt to the necessary social distancing and cleanliness rules precipitated by the Covid-19 outbreak are making some of those changes permanent.

Greg Dillard, a safety attorney and partner at Baker Botts LLP in Houston, said some of his manufacturing clients are permanently implementing “engineered solutions,” such as installing ventilation in control rooms to decrease the exchange of pathogens.

Companies have learned the sheer impact of viruses on operations, and “there is a greater effort by employers to keep their existing staff safe because it’s good for their health but it’s also good for business,”...
