Civil Rights, Employer Groups Target Religious Preference Rule

More than 109,000 comments were submitted on the Labor Department’s proposal justifying the use of religious preferences in hiring, pay, firing, and other employment decisions by federal contractors. Yet the comments show some unlikely allies voiced their opposition to the rule.

Unlikely Camps: Employer and lawyer-side groups, like the National Industry Liaison Group and the American Bar Association, sided with civil rights advocacy groups, like the ACLU and the Human Rights Campaign.
