Churchill Downs Maintenance Staff Wins Labor Row at New Facility

Churchill Downs Racetrack lost its bid to overturn an arbitration award requiring it to pay lost wages and benefits to unionized workers who said the company improperly outsourced housekeeping and maintenance work at its new wagering facility, according to a ruling by a federal judge in Kentucky.

The arbitration award favoring the Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local No. 576, is valid and enforceable, Judge David J. Hale of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky held Nov. 25.
