For the second time this academic year, Chicago teachers are walking picket lines in front of charter schools, accusing management of “greed ahead of student need.”
Approximately 175 teachers working at four campuses operated by Chicago International Charter School walked off the job Feb. 5 to protest lack of progress on a new collective bargaining agreement. The job action, affecting 2,200 students, comes just six weeks after 536 Chicago educators at Acero Charter Schools settled a four-day strike, which is regarded as the first strike targeting a charter school network in U.S. history.
