Charter School Strikes Endangered by Possible NLRB Change

Massive teacher strikes in Arizona, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and elsewhere helped make 2018 the biggest year for work stoppages in three decades. Among the protests was a landmark charter school strike, with teachers at a Chicago school walking out in December.

Educators at a second Chicago charter school and one in the Cleveland area followed suit in early 2019.

But some unions could lose that valuable weapon from their arsenal if the National Labor Relations Board walks away from disputes at charter schools and leaves them for states to handle under their public employee labor laws. Depending on the ...
