The Colorado Supreme Court ruled that employers in Colorado are free to decide whether to provide employees with vacation pay, but if they choose to do so, they’re obligated to pay departing workers for all earned vacation time even if a worker leaves on short notice or is fired. A 2003 amendment to the Colorado Wage Claim Act codified state law protection for vacation pay, when offered.
