The National Labor Relations Board affirmed a decision that an Apple employee wasn’t protected under the National Labor Relations Act when she sent mass emails to her coworkers about personal issues with management. While the employee argued that she had been unlawfully fired for raising concerns about the company’s management structure, the board upheld the administrative law judge’s ruling that these complaints were “personal gripes” that didn’t have the protection of federal labor law. In addition, the employee’s accusations of company officials warning her about the emails didn’t constitute unlawful retaliation.
