Arbitrator Paul D. Roose ruled that the University of California Los Angeles didn’t violate its CBA with Teamsters Local 2010 when it failed to assign weekend overtime on two specific dates to a journeyman sheet metal worker with 21 years of service. He found that the CBA clearly requires that management attempt an equitable distribution of overtime to employees in the same classification over the previous 12 months; it doesn’t address the assignment of any given employee to any specific daily overtime assignment.
