Howard Hughes Medical Institute is entitled to summary judgment on a female, Asian research science investigator’s claims of gender and race discrimination alleging that she was paid less than her co-workers and that her tenure contract wasn’t renewed for a fourth term, a Massachusetts federal district court ruled. The investigator failed to show that the low scores and significant criticism of her work that she received during her tenure renewal review were based on a discriminatory motive, or that male employees were treated more favorably during the review process, the court said.
