California Worker’s Case Sets Pregnancy Accommodation Claim Test

La Casa de Las Madres, a San Francisco domestic violence non-profit, had its trial win upheld by the state’s appeal court, in a pregnancy accommodation case brought by its former shelter manager.

In a novel ruling Thursday, the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate Division set the test for proving a claim under a state law that made it unlawful for an employer to decline to provide reasonable accommodation for a worker experiencing a condition involving pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition.
