California Bill to Require Breast-Feeding Spaces Passes Senate

California nursing mothers would get a clean, private space to pump breast milk under a bill that passed the state Senate, legislation a Republican lawmaker called a “legislative hell hole for employers.”

Senate Bill 142 would make it easier for new mothers to return to work and continue to breast feed their infants, said bill author, Sen. Scott Wiener (D). Women now have to decide whether to return to work and stop breast feeding or continue to feed their child, “and that is a false choice,” Wiener said May 21.
