Breakthru Beverage Pays Almost $1 Million to Settle Bias Inquiry

Breakthru Beverage Illinois LLC has agreed to pay nearly $1 million to resolve an investigation by the EEOC that looked into whether the company discriminated against sales employees based on national origin or race, the agency said Oct. 23.

The beverage company will pay $950,000 after the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission found reasonable cause to believe that it offered sales staff assignments that resulted in racial discrimination in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the commission said in a statement announcing the deal.
