Boeing Braces for Union Vote at South Carolina Plant

Boeing Co. production workers in South Carolina are slated to vote Feb. 15 on whether they want union representation at a plant in North Charleston.

There’s a lot at stake in this election for the world’s largest aerospace company as well as the 600,000-member International Association of Machinists and the 3,075 workers who will be affected by the outcome, sources told Bloomberg BNA Feb. 13.

“South Carolina is an uphill climb for the union,” said Michael H. LeRoy, a professor in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s School of Labor and Employment Relations and College of Law.
