BoA Settles Predecessor’s 1993 Racial Hiring Bias Case

Bank of America will pay $1 million to a class of more than 1,000 black job applicants who weren’t hired by a predecessor bank in 1993, according to a settlement announced April 17 by the Labor Department (Bank of America, N.A. v. Dep’t of Labor, D.D.C., No. 16-968, stayed pending settlement 4/4/17).

The bank’s settlement with the DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs puts to rest a hiring discrimination case spanning over two decades.
