Black Ex-NFL Players’ Concussion Benefit Bias Claims Tossed (1)

Black retired NFL players can’t proceed with class action claims that the league manipulated their “cognitive function” test scores to reduce their chances of receiving benefits under the $1 billion concussion settlement, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ruled Monday.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dismissed the players’ claims as “an improper collateral attack on the settlement agreement in the NFL multidistrict litigation.”

“The court, however, remains concerned about the race-norming issue,” Judge Anita B. Brody said.
