Archdiocese of N.Y. Nears Deal in Hispanic Employees’ Bias Case

The Archdiocese of New York has reached an agreement in principle to settle a race discrimination and Fair Labor Standards Act lawsuit filed by former custodial staff, according to a Manhattan federal court filing.

The former Church of St. Joseph of the Holy Family employees alleged that the archdiocese violated federal, state, and municipal civil rights laws when it fired Hispanic custodial staff in 2020, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
