Annual Affirmative Action Check Proposed by DOL (Corrected)

Federal contractors would have to certify with the U.S. Labor Department every year that they have an affirmative action program in place for their workforce, if a recent proposal is made permanent.

Businesses that hold government contracts now must certify that they have an affirmative action program in place—one of the requirements associated with holding federal contracts—in the System for Award Management, but not with the Labor Department itself. The DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, which enforces contractor compliance with equal employment opportunity laws, announced the proposed information collection in the Federal Register on Friday.
