ADT Must Recognize Technicians Union Post-Facility Consolidation

Security systems company ADT must continue to recognize and bargain with a longstanding union of installers, technicians, and service personnel, at least while their case proceeds at the National Labor Relations Board, a federal court in Wisconsin said.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 364 represented employees at ADT’s Rockford, Ill., plant since 1994. The company in 2019 closed the Rockford plant and a Madison, Wis., facility and consolidated them into a new facility in in Janesville, Wis.

ADT withdrew recognition of the union representing the former Rockford employees. The union filed a complaint with the board.
