Accutrace Settles Claims Its Reports Included Prohibited Records

Accutrace Inc. has entered into a settlement agreement to resolve allegations that it improperly included prejudicial, misleading, and illegal background reports in conjunction with applications for employment, housing, credit, and other inquiries in violation of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act and related New York state law.

The settlement, approved Friday by the U.S. District Court for the Southern of New York, provides for injunctive relief; attorneys’ fees and expenses of $240,000; and a $10,000 award to class representative Satima Lucas.
