A&P Files Bankruptcy Again, Suppliers Threatened Cutoff

Some 30,000 workers represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers could be affected by Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co.'s decision July 19 to file for bankruptcy again, just three years after emerging from court protection with the help of investors (The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., S.D.N.Y., 15-23007, bankruptcy filing 7/19/15).

The UFCW commented on the move in a July 20 statement. “Looking ahead, we fully expect A&P to stay in business during this bankruptcy process and honor its responsibilities to its employees, our members, and their families,” the union said. It added that ...
