19 States and Counting Apply for Federal Jobless Aid Boost

Nineteen states have applied for the latest jobless aid expansion, and most plan to pass along the $300 weekly federal boost to claimants without an extra $100 of state money, a FEMA official says.

Matches Scarce: The Lost Wages Assistance program, created by a presidential memo, calls for a $300 weekly boost in unemployment benefits, matched by $100 from states. Nearly all state applicants so far are opting to count existing benefit payments as the state share, stopping short of the full $400 increase.
