PPP Fraudster Sees 17-Year Prison Sentence Affirmed by 11th Cir.

A man convicted of defrauding the federal government out of more than $1 million in Paycheck Protection Program funds saw his 17 year prison sentence affirmed, after the Eleventh Circuit said the unusually high sentence wasn’t unreasonable.

The district court had recognized that the sentence was above the guidelines range, but said it was appropriate because Jeremie Saintvil’s case was “out of the heartland of normal fraud cases,” and the Eleventh Circuit agreed Thursday.

“The district court canvassed the applicable considerations on the record,” the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit said.
