Respiratory Safety Climbs OSHA’s 10 Most-Frequent Citations List

The hazard of falling at a worksite remains the most often-cited Occupational Safety and Health Administration violation for the eleventh straight year, the National Safety Council announced at its annual conference, but respiratory violations have increased in frequency.

While fall protection citations declined slightly from 5,424 violations in fiscal year 2020 to 5,295 in 2021, the standard remains the most used by the agency against employers, according to Patrick Kapust, deputy director of OSHA’s Directorate of Enforcement Programs, who presented the list during the council’s virtual Safety Congress & Expo on Tuesday.
