Oil Rig Worker Unable to Mask During Covid Settles Benefits Suit

An offshore oil rig operator who said his permanent respiratory illness made him unable to work under his employer’s Covid-19 mask requirement has settled his lawsuit seeking disability benefits from Prudential Insurance Co. of America.

The parties’ stipulation to dismiss the case was filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. It comes two days after they told Judge Fred Biery they had reached a deal to resolve the case out of court.
