L.A. Lakers Suit Over Covid Damage to Staples Center Gets Reboot

A suit by the Los Angeles Lakers seeking insurance coverage for losses caused by the Covid-19 pandemic was reopened after the team filed an amended complaint in the Central District of California.

The Lakers allege that Federal Insurance Co., a Chubb Ltd. affiliate, refused to provide coverage for “extensive repairs and physical alterations” to the Staples Center that were necessary to address damage “caused by the actual presence of the virus” and make them safe for fans to attend.
