GOP Lawmakers Slam Spending Amid Two-Track Infrastructure Push

House Republicans criticized President Joe Biden and his congressional allies for what they see as runaway spending as Democrats push for multi-trillion-dollar infrastructure bills on the heels of a major Covid-19 relief package.

Pointing to unspent relief funds they argue are unnecessary, Republicans questioned the fiscal responsibility of passing additional major spending bills. Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.) said Thursday that recent funding has “masqueraded as pandemic-related relief,” including more than $1 billion for Amtrak as well as “extraneous” environmental projects.
