A lawsuit accusing Enterprise Holdings Inc. of failing to give workers sufficient notice to employees laid off due to the coronavirus pandemic was certified as a nationwide class action Tuesday by a federal court in Florida.
Elva Benson worked as a rental agent for one of Enterprise’s subsidiary operating groups, Enterprise Orlando LLC. She was one of nearly 20,000 active Enterprise employees laid off nationwide in early 2020, although many were later recalled.
Benson alleges the workers didn’t receive sufficient advance notice of their terminations under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
