Educators can play a substantial role in spreading the coronavirus in schools, and in subsequent infections in households, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.
The CDC report released Monday didn’t find that vaccines for school staff should be mandated for schools to reopen. But it did say vaccinations could reduce in-school transmission, especially combined with steps like mask-wearing and social distancing.
“Although not required for reopening schools, COVID-19 vaccination should be considered as an additional mitigation measure to be added when available,” the report said.
