California’s Governor Starts Rolling Back Covid Emergency Orders

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will end the state’s physical-distancing requirements on June 15 and begin to roll back many of the provisions in the executive orders he issued over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, administration officials announced Friday.

Newsom, a Democrat, will end provisions in 58 executive orders in three phases ending June 30, July 31, and Sept. 30 with a new order (N-08-21) he signed Friday.

The provisions suspended regulatory and licensing requirements to allow businesses and other entities to operate with greater ease during the pandemic. They include waivers on emergency personnel licensing, the ability ...
