Five Florida counties will test a technology intended to make voting by mail accessible for voters with disabilities, according to a settlement Monday between the state and a group representing blind voters.
The agreement requires formation of a blue-ribbon commission to develop a system for implementing the pilot program statewide by March 2022, Matthew Dietz, the attorney representing The Florida Council of the Blind Inc., said in a hearing in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
The pilot program will be conducted in Miami-Dade, Nassau, Orange, Volusia and Pinellas counties, Dietz said.
