Defense Chief Austin Open to Mandating Covid-19 Vaccines (1)

President Joe Biden is asking the Pentagon to determine how and when to require that all U.S. troops receive the Covid-19 vaccine as Defense Department leaders have been wary of mandating the shot so far.

Pentagon officials for months have been discussing whether to require troops to take Covid-19 vaccines as the Food and Drug Administration moves toward full approval of the shots.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin would consider requiring the vaccine before full FDA approval, Biden told reporters Thursday.
