Zoosk Dating Site Faces California Privacy Law Claim After Hack (1)

Zoosk Inc. users are accusing the online dating site operator in a California federal court of violating a state privacy law by failing to protect their information from a hack earlier this year.

The Spark Networks SE unit is violating the California Consumer Privacy Act and the state’s unfair competition law, plaintiffs are alleging in a potential class action filed July 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Plaintiffs have been bringing actions against companies under the privacy law since it took effect Jan. 1, alleging they didn’t protect data in a breach or hack. ...
