Yanfeng Automotive 401(k) Lawsuit Denied Pause for SCOTUS Debate

Yanfeng US Automotive Interior System failed to convince a Detroit federal judge to pause a lawsuit challenging its 401(k) plan fees until the U.S. Supreme Court decides a similar case against Northwestern University.

The automotive interior parts manufacturer said the Supreme Court’s anticipated ruling in Hughes v. Northwestern University is likely to have “particular applicability” in this case, as both cases rest on allegations of high-cost and underperforming 401(k) investment options and excessive administrative fees. The Yanfeng plan participants opposed halting the case, saying it could take nearly a year for the Supreme Court to rule, and it’s “pure speculation” ...
