Xarelto Plaintiffs Look to Long Game Against J&J, Bayer

Johnson & Johnson and Bayer AG won the first three Xarelto test trials, but with thousands of pending suits, the plaintiffs look to the long game in challenging the blood thinner’s safety.

“The outcomes so far are not what we want, but the case against Xarelto is just beginning,” Andy D. Birchfield Jr. of Beasley Allen in Montgomery, Ala., told Bloomberg BNA.

“There are more than 19,000 active lawsuits pending and the attorneys involved in these cases plan to see them through,” said Birchfield, co-lead counsel for the plaintiffs in the federal multidistrict litigation.
