Scana, Fluor Beat WARN Act Suit Over ‘Nukegate’ Worker Layoffs

A proposed class action alleging Scana Corp. and its on-site contractor Fluor Corp. violated federal law requiring advance notice of plant closings or mass layoffs, by abruptly canceling a multibillion-dollar nuclear energy project leading to the layoff of 5,000 workers, was dismissed by a federal judge in South Carolina.

Scana contracted with Westinghouse Electric Company in 2008 to design and build two nuclear reactors in Jenkinsville, S.C.
