New Jersey Nursing Home Accused of Favoring Filipino Nurses

Bergen County, N.J., is accused in a new class lawsuit of systemic discrimination against non-Filipino nurses.

The complaint alleges that the race bias has been primarily caused by Violetta Arcilla, who has been director of nursing at Bergen County Health Care Center in Rockleigh, N.J. since 2015. Arcilla, who is Filipino, favors other Filipino nurses in the assignment of shifts, including overtime, and how nurses are disciplined for workplace infractions, the Aug. 19 lawsuit says.
