Nebraska Med Data Breach Class Settlement Gets Final Approval

Nebraska Medicine and a class of patients won a federal trial court’s final approval of their settlement of a lawsuit arising out of a data breach that occurred sometime in August or September 2020.

About 125,000 people whose personally identifiable information may have been disclosed as the result of the breach can submit claims for compensation, according to the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska.

Another nearly 14,000 people whose driver’s licenses and social security numbers were potentially accessed in the breach will automatically get credit monitoring and identity theft protection services, it said.
