NCAA Concussion Suits Sent to Illinois

Federal medical monitoring suits by former student-athletes alleging the National Collegiate Athletic Association concealed the risks of concussion injuries will proceed in Illinois, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation said Dec. 18 (In re Nat’l Collegiate Athletic Ass’n Student-Athlete Concussion Litig., J.P.M.L., No. 2492).

Two putative class actions against the NCAA were pending at the time plaintiffs in a suit in the Northern District of Illinois, Arrington v. National Collegiate Athletic Association, sought transfer, the panel order said. The NCAA did not oppose transfer.
